Five Great Movies to Watch on Halloween
When the leaves are falling from the trees and frost is in the air, darkness sets in earlier every night. It’s perfect movie-watching weather! Halloween-themed movies can be gory, scary, funny, or family-friendly.
Whether you watch movies at home or in a theater, and whether you like new releases or old classics, you might consider taking in these five for 2026.
1. “Hocus Pocus”
Follow the mischievous Sanderson sisters as they return to Salem, blending comedy, magic, and Halloween fun suitable for older kids and teens.
2. “Monsters Inc. (2001 Classic)”
Introduces friendly monsters in a fun, non-scary adventure, great for ages 2–5.
3. Harry Potter Series
Magical adventures with mild suspense, suitable for ages 9-12 and up. Kids and adults alike love the Harry Potter series. There are eight to choose from, so you can make it an all-night film festival or watch one each night for eight days (or choose one!). The movies are based on J.K. Rowling’s books and were produced by David Heyman and distributed by Warner Bros. They are more magic-based than fear-based, making them a safer choice for families.
4. “Coco (2017 Classic)”
While not strictly Halloween, its themes of family and the Day of the Dead make it a heartwarming choice for family movie night.
5. “RL Stine’s Pumpkinhead (Tubi, October 9, 2026)“
A family-friendly continuation of the 2025 Tubi hit, featuring a witch and a new Halloween curse.
